See where you can get sandbags in Central Florida (WFTV)

ORLANDO, Fla. — As things heat up in the tropics, governments in Central Florida are helping residents prepare for any potential impacts from a storm.

Here is a list of the sandbag locations being offered this week ahead of possible storm impacts.

Lake County

Update:

Lake County sandbag operations will close on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. due to anticipated weather conditions.

Tavares

Tavares Old Fire Station

  • 424 E. Alfred Street
  • Sandbags will be available “around the clock.”
  • Residents need to bring their own shovels and are responsible for filling their own sandbags.
  • Limit 10 per household in a 24-hour period.

Hickory Point Recreation Complex

  • 27315 SR 19, Tavares
  • Date and time: 10/6 from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10/7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Residents need to bring their own shovels and are responsible for filling their own sandbags.

Sorrento

East Lake Sports and Community Complex

  • 24809 Wallick Rd, Sorrento
  • Date and time: 10/6 from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10/7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Residents need to bring their own shovels and are responsible for filling their own sandbags.

Umatilla

Volusia County:

Update:

Sandbag operations will be open from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Oct. 9, while supplies last. This is the last opportunity for Volusia County residents to fill sandbags at the following locations:

  • Volusia County Fire Rescue Station 23, Turnbull Station, 1850 Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach

Update:

Only a few sandbag locations will be open on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Central Florida, for the final day of Milton preparations.

Volusia County will have sandbag operations from 9 a.m. to noon while supplies last.

There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household, and residents should bring their own shovels. Residents must show proof of residency.
